A Study to Determine the Attitude of Students towards Ethical and Morals Values

Abstract
It is a well-known fact that ethical and moral values act as a guideline for behavior in certain situations. A person learns about ethical values from his/her childhood form various sources such as parents, teachers, friends etc. Thus, various internal and external factors are involved in influencing moral behavior of human. Nowadays, students are mostly affected by societal changes. And for this study, engineering students are taken into consideration as they are the future of any country. Tomorrow they will be in a situation in which they have to take decisions for their own and their family benefits, for the benefit of the society and ultimately for the benefit of their country. At this time their values especially, their ethical values will determine the validity and usefulness of their decisions. These moral values determine the competency to assume responsibility.
Through this research an effort has been put to check and analyze what the engineering students of today’s generation thinks about ethical and moral values, up to what level they are inclined towards ethical values and up to what level they adopt these values in their life and are they competent enough to assume the responsibilities at various levels tomorrow. Thus, in this context, a sound and effective value-based education has become very important to prepare youth to live and behave within ethical boundaries. In conclusion, to strengthen the formation of ethical and moral attitudes of students, an attention to various factors viz cultural or other socio-cultural factors should be focused.
