Abstract

Thurstone (1887-1955) is an American Psychologist. He had worked as Thomas Alva Edison's assistant. He started his career as a professor in an Engineering college at Minnesota University. Being the best psychometrician known to the world, he conducted his research on human abilities in the learning process. He put forth his ideas in the name of test theory, psychological scaling, attitude measurement and multiple-factor analysis. The present study analyses Thurstone’s multifactor theory. As per the present study, it is diagnosed that an English teacher should be aware of the ideas expressed in this theory before dealing with their students who learn English as a second language.
