In the dynamic global landscape, the steel industry is pivotal for the economic development of nations, particularly in developing countries. Effective knowledge management (KM) is crucial as these nations strive to enhance their industrial capabilities for sustainable growth and competitiveness. This research addresses challenges in implementing successful KM practices in the steel industry of developing countries, proposing a comprehensive framework tailored to their unique context, considering socio-economic nuances and technological landscapes. The research methodology combines a literature review, case studies, and expert interviews to identify key factors influencing KM implementation in the steel industry. Success stories and best practices globally are analyzed to distill practical insights adaptable to developing countries. The proposed framework integrates technological, organizational, and cultural dimensions for a holistic approach. Technological solutions, such as advanced data analytics and collaborative platforms, facilitate knowledge creation, sharing, and retrieval, while the organizational dimension focuses on establishing a supportive culture for knowledge sharing and continuous learning. The framework highlights capacity building through training programs and a knowledge-oriented workforce. The cultural dimension addresses the need for a mindset change toward knowledge as a valuable asset and fostering collaboration across diverse teams. This framework offers a roadmap for organizations and policymakers to maximize knowledge resources for sustainable development and global competitiveness. With developing countries playing an increasingly significant role in the global steel market, this research is a timely and invaluable resource for industry practitioners, policymakers, and researchers.
