Seismic Vulnerability of Soft Storey Reinforced Concrete Structures with Masonry Infill: Investigating Lateral Loading Effects and Failure Mechanisms
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper aims to explore the seismic vulnerability of soft storey reinforced concrete structures with masonry infill, focusing on the influence of lateral loading effects and elucidating potential failure mechanisms. Soft storeys, characterized by a lack of lateral load-resisting elements, pose a significant risk during seismic events. The integration of masonry infill within these structures further complicates their behavior under lateral loading. Through a comprehensive investigation, this paper seeks to enhance our understanding of the seismic performance of such structures, contributing valuable insights for designing resilient and safe buildings in seismically active regions.
