Abstract

Sustainable closed-loop supply chains (CLSCs) have emerged as a pivotal solution to address environmental concerns associated with traditional linear supply chains. However, the optimization of resource utilization, accurate forecasting, and overall efficiency remain critical challenges in the successful implementation of closed-loop systems. This research delves into the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in revolutionizing sustainable CLSCs. The current problem lies in the inefficiencies and environmental impacts inherent in supply chain processes. Conventional supply chains often struggle with waste management, high energy consumption, and inadequate forecasting, contributing to adverse ecological effects. This research proposes leveraging AI technologies as a novel approach to tackle these challenges. The primary focus of this work is to investigate how AI can optimize resource utilization, elevate forecasting accuracy, and enhance overall efficiency within closed-loop supply chains. By employing advanced algorithms and machine learning models, AI has the potential to dynamically adapt to changing demands, predict resource requirements, and streamline material flows, thereby minimizing waste and environmental footprint. The novelty of this research lies in its comprehensive exploration of AI's multifaceted impact on sustainability within closed-loop supply chains.
